Calvin Tucker had his very first animal rescue experience back in 2017. It was a little grey kitten who showed up, asking for help, outside his workplace. At that time, Calvin did not like cats, but there was something about the pet that moved him.
The way the kitten looked at him touched his heart, said Calvin. So, he went back inside and took some crackers to feed the stray cat. The following day, when Calvin got to work, he saw the kitten, waiting for him at 7 a.m. He decided to adopt the cat and call him Henry.
Since then, Calvin has already rescued 123 cats and many other animals. He also feeds feral feline colonies every day of the week. In September last year, Calvin’s intuition for helping animals once again kicked in when he felt that someone needed his help.
According to Calvin, he was headed home on a Friday night when, for some reason, something spoke to him and told him to get off the expressway. At that time, he was about six exits before his home. Upon turning on the main highway, Calvin immediately spotted Wrinkles.
Wrinkles was in the middle of the road and seemed very scared. Cars were coming and honking at him. So, Calvin pulled over and lured the frightened dog to the side of the road using a can of food. He sat with the pup for about 20 minutes and saw how bad his condition was.

About 98% of Wrinkles’ hair was gone, and all Calvin could see were the dog skin’s creases. Calvin put Wrinkles to a foster home, where he had a bath. The next day, he also drove the pup to the vet and confirmed that Wrinkles had severe mange, parasites, worms, and fever. Despite that, Wrinkles was still so loving.
Calvin placed Wrinkles on the table, and they just looked into each other’s eyes. According to Calvin, the only thing he could see was Wrinkles’ happiness for being off the streets. His eyes showed so much gratitude. Even Wrinkles’ foster parents said that he was the sweetest foster dog that they have ever had.
Six months later, Wrinkles’ fur grew into a glossy black coat. He found his forever home too, and this is all thanks to Calvin’s decision to take the long way home.
