Stray dogs that get hit by a car and become disabled are often euthanized when vets say that they will never walk again. However, not all people give up easily on dogs, and they will do whatever it takes to give injured and disabled dogs the life that they deserve. It’s not going to be easy, but these people provide these animals with a second chance to be happy again.
A stray pit bull named Iron was found in the streets of Puerto Rico, dragging his back legs on the pavement. The people who rescued Iron assumed that Iron got hit by a car that caused a traumatic injury in his spine. Iron was in pretty rough shape when he was taken to the animal rescue facility.
Kat and Heather saw Iron’s pictures on social media, and they became very emotional. Rescuers from New York Bully Crew was taking care of Iron and decided to contact Kat and Heather to see if they are willing to foster Iron.
Kat and Heather didn’t hesitate to take Iron into their home. They were more than happy to take care of Iron, and they were also determined to help Iron walk again. Kat and Heather wanted to do everything it takes to help Iron walk again.
When Iron arrived into Kat and Heater’s home, the couple was surprised that Iron was so tiny. Iron looked massive in the pictures, but he was actually quite small for a pit bull. Iron was also shut down and didn’t want to engage with anyone.
Kat and Heather knew that it was going to be challenging to help Iron, but they kept on encouraging Iron and showered him with love. Kat and Heather did physical therapy on Iron with range-of-motion exercises.
Kat and Heather didn’t know how far they would make it with Iron, but Iron started to take his first few steps within the first few weeks. By week six, Iron was able to walk for a couple of minutes. He loved being outdoors with his pit bull siblings, and he was determined to run around and play with the other dogs.
When Iron started walking on his own, his personality began to shine. Iron loves playing with his pit bull brothers and sisters, and he also likes other animals, such as cats and goats. Sometimes, Iron would purposely crash his wheelchair and would start running with the other dogs. It seemed like Iron didn’t want to be aided with wheels any more.
Iron started playing with toys and was so brave and full of confidence. When Iron was finally able to walk again, Kat and Heather knew that they could never let go of Iron anymore. They already fell in love with him.
When they asked if there were any applications to adopt Iron, the rescue organization said no. Kat and Heather were secretly happy that no one applied to adopt Iron, which meant that they could be the first ones to apply for Iron’s adoption. Iron’s finally with his forever family. Here’s a heartwarming video of Iron proving everyone wrong and learns to walk again thanks to his loving foster family, who became his forever family.
